New Year's Day

At the end of December we had a huge storm. It sounded rather like Armageddon at the time, with wind and rain lashing the house and palm fronds falling like mortars onto our roof. At the end of it, every single dead palm frond on our palm tree (which is about 5 stories high) were on the roof or in our yard. Brian spent the afternoon before New Year's Eve clearing the fronds so we could start breaking them down to put out with our green waste. Wyatt was fascinated by the pile of fronds. He spent the afternoon in the back yard with Brian picking up the little pieces and putting them in the pile, or as he said, "cleaning up the fonds".

On New Year's morning, we continued our tradition of going out on our upstairs deck to watch the Stealth Bomber fly over the Rose Parade route.
The Stealth Bomber, is in fact very, very stealth. You don't hear it until it is right on top of you, you can only imagine what it would be like to have that fly over your house while dropping bombs. Holy cow!
Grandma Vickie was the only one with enough sense to watch from inside the warm house!
