When Mommy's Away....

Plotting and planning.... Hmm, those red things daddy has look awfully good. Gotta wait for Mommy to go to work though.....
Red vines! At last!

Wyatt the Daredevil

We are pretty sure that Wyatt is going to like roller coasters when he gets big. This week Grandma Margy discovered that sliding makes him laugh. He also likes to fly and be turned upside down. When you do any of these things he laughs and laughs!

Orange County Fair

Today was Wyatt's first trip to the Orange County Fair. It is our favorite fair because it is fairly small and has better weather than the LA County Fair.
We went with Grandma Vickie and Grandpa Richard. Wyatt was excited they came because it meant there were lots of people to carry him.
Wyatt modeling his shades and sun hat.
Wyatt saw his first livestock, up close and personal. Grandma Vickie showed him the goats. They weren't that much bigger than he was!
After the fair we had to wash all the sunscreen off. Wyatt wasn't sure why we had to wash that off only to be slathered with lotion!
Then he had to chew on his froggy towel. It has hands that fit perfectly in his mouth. Mmm, terry cloth....

Kickball!

On Friday's we go and watch Daddy play kickball. Sometimes he watches the game, but usually he watches all the people at the park. Wyatt can't wait until he's big enough to play too!
Brian playing first base in his kickball league. Wyatt and I laugh, because a lot of the people on the team take it REALLY seriously (i.e. they are always talking about keeping their kicking legs warm). Brian plays for fun, but is one of the better players.
Afterwards, Wyatt is tired from all the excitement and fresh air and needs a snuggle with Mommy.

Sitting Up

Wyatt has been practicing his sitting up this week. He likes to sit propped up on the couch. It's a whole new view of the world that he really enjoys.
Of course, give him a burp cloth and his fist to chew on and he is a happy boy.
This week Wyatt went to the doctor for his 4 month check up. At the check up, he showed Daddy and Doctor S. that he can sit up like a big boy. His stats at 18 weeks: 15 pounds, 4 ounces and 25 inches long.
Wyatt's favorite toy is his giraffe rattle. It makes cool sounds and it's tasty to chew on. Sadly, sometimes he gets so excited putting it in his mouth that he tips over!
The feet are the best for chewing - they fit perfectly in his mouth and he can get a good grip on them. By bedtime, the poor giraffe is usually soaked with spit!

Family Time

Before I went back to work, we went to San Diego for cousin Sean's high school graduation party.  Somehow, I forgot to take any pictures!  Thankfully, Grandpa Richard took a few.

Changes!

Two weeks ago there was a big change in the Taft household - I went back to work and Brian began two months of paternity leave.  We have been very busy - we put an offer in on a house and are now in escrow, Grandma Vickie came to visit, and Brian took Wyatt lots of exciting places.
After I come home from work, Wyatt and I like to snuggle.  He usually falls asleep and I just can't bring myself to put him down!
Brian took Wyatt to the comic book store.  The first time, Wyatt slept.  The second time, Wyatt screamed.  Brian hopes that this doesn't mean Wyatt won't share his love of comic books!
Wyatt and Grandma Vickie got to spend lots of time playing together.  Here Wyatt is experiencing a teething ring for the first time.
Brian was glad that Grandma came to visit, because it meant there was someone else around to feed Wyatt.  Wyatt has gotten to be a pro at eating from a bottle.  Now he even likes to hold the bottle when he eats, just like a big boy.
Every day Brian takes a picture of Wyatt and sends it to me at work.  This is Friday's picture, taken when I was talking to Wyatt on our speaker phone.  Brian said Wyatt listened intently at first, and then went back to sucking on his fingers.

Playdate

Last week Wyatt and I had a play date with Bhupinder and her son Gurdaas.  Wyatt and Gurdaas were both very well-behaved while we ate lunch and caught up.  Wyatt was really jealous of all the hair that Gurdaas has!
